Send Our Troops A Christmas Card Today

Send Our Troops A Christmas Card Today

The brave men and women who serve in our Canadian Armed Forces deserve our support year-round, but never more than on the two most precious days on our calendar: Remembrance Day and Christmas Day. On November 11th, we held ceremonies across Canada to remember the sacrifices of those who paid the ultimate price and our veterans who came returned home. But thousands of … [Read more...]

First Lieutenant David Georges Greyeyes

When You Meet a Veteran, Thank Them For Their Service Not just today, but every day Remembering First Lieutenant David Georges Greyeyes "Dave was one of the last true gentlemen. He served his country. He did it well, he did it professionally, and then went on to be a leader in his community." – Captain Malcolm Young, secretary-treasurer, Saskatoon Light Infantry … [Read more...]

Lest We Forget – Today is the day we Honour our Veterans

Published November 11, 2014 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: In Memoriam -- Remembering our Heros

Respect. It's a small word meaning "esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability." That definition perfectly describes why we ought to set down our own petty lives for an hour a year and honour the brave men and women who came before us and lay down their lives to protect our precious Rights and Freedoms. Respect. We … [Read more...]

Remembrance Day is NOT a National Holiday

Published November 10, 2014 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: In Memoriam -- Remembering our Heros

Remembrance Day is not a national holiday, despite being listed in the Holidays Act. The Holidays Act lists three holidays, Canada Day, Victoria Day and Remembrance Day. Canada Day and Victoria Day are "legal holidays" while Remembrance Day is "a holiday". This small distinction means it is not treated as a statutory holiday across the nation as the other two are. Provinces … [Read more...]

Remembrance Day: Our Most Important Holiday

Published November 10, 2012 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: In Memoriam -- Remembering our Heros, Podcasts

[powerpress]   Remembrance Day is, I believe, the most important holiday we have.  This is the one day we set aside each year to remember all of the brave men and women who fought to protect our Rights and Freedoms. That includes both those veterans who returned home safely after serving and those who came home wounded and broken; those who now rest in graves … [Read more...]

Remembrance Day: A Day to Honour the Men and Women Who Sacrificed Everything for us

Published November 11, 2011 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Expressions of Gratitude

Remembrance Day isn’t just one more Hallmark Holiday where we get a paid day off to do whatever we want.  Unfortunately most people look at it that way. No, Remembrance Day is the day we set aside to remember and honour the brave men and women who gave their lives in the defense of our Rights and Freedoms; a day to honour those men and women who survived the horrors of war … [Read more...]

My Remembrance Day Thought: Respect

Published November 11, 2010 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Guns

Respect It's a lost concept, it seems.  A simple concept, really.  Webster's defines it as "a high or special regard". I believe that's the least we can do... hold those who were willing to, and especially those who did give their lives to defend our freedom in "a high or special regard." Last year my wife and I went to the Remembrance Day ceremony in our town.  It's a … [Read more...]

And under the heading of Moronic Bureaucrat of the Year…

Published November 6, 2010 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Bureaucratic Incompetence, Politically Correct Madness, Stupid Human Tricks

Some ninny bureaucrat in Britain has decreed that having Army cadets carrying rifles and demonstrating their drill skills in this year's Remembrance Day parade would "upset" onlookers. These delicate onlookers have managed to survive the horror of watching young cadets perform their drills for decades.  Why they suddenly can't handle the sight of a rifle in the hands of an … [Read more...]
