Apple Violates Your Privacy Rights Again

Published February 11, 2020 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Privacy Rights, Rights

[Update 2020-20-11 22:10 hrs: Added info about Apple suspending its "grading" program and updated links to sources.] "Siri, violate my privacy..." You don't expect your phone or tablet to spy on you. Last year news broke that Siri, Apple's virtual assistant, sends audio of sexual encounters and other private moments recorded without users’ knowledge to human ‘graders’ for … [Read more...]

Did the NFA send a SECOND mailout to stolen CPC membership list?

Published June 13, 2017 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Canada's Powerful Gun Lobby

Sunday afternoon I received, via email, a scanned copy of a second, yes, second NFA fundraising letter sent to the stolen CPC mailing list. This new NFA fundraising letter starts off: "There's a big fight coming. You know it, and I know it. Prime Minster Justin Trudeau is going to take away more gun rights." The female recipient of this latest NFA fundraising letter is … [Read more...]

Got a password-protected Smartphone? At the Border you still kiss your Right to Privacy Away

Published March 7, 2015 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Privacy Rights

We Canadians like to believe we have rights. We like to believe those rights are protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. We are fools. Our government moves to strip us of our rights every day. The latest abuse of power stripping us of our Right to Privacy comes to us courtesy of the Canadian Border Services Agency, who can now demand the password for … [Read more...]

Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis Desperately Needs Thicker Skin

Published June 16, 2014 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Abuse of Police Authority, Constitutional Violations, Freedom of Speech, Unreasonable Search and Seizure

Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis: if you can't handle being mocked stop being a politician.  Mocking and ridicule come with the territory so either get a thicker skin or get yourself a new job.  Wasting police resources to harass those who oppose you is the act of a tyrant, not a mayor. Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis was so worried about a parody Twitter account with all of 50 posts and 50 … [Read more...]

Is Every Phone Call You Make Recorded Without Your Knowledge or Consent?

Published May 27, 2013 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Constitutional Violations, Courts, Guns, Privacy Rights, Rights, Warrantless Searches

Constitutions, Charters of Rights and Freedoms, and Bills of Rights mean something under one and only one condition: when those in power choose to follow them. There is not a government in the world that actually respects the documents created by those who founded those nations.  Here in Canada, the ink wasn't dry on the Trudeaupian Nightmare, our Charter of Rights and … [Read more...]

Bill C-30’s invasions of privacy and warrantless searches are outrageous, but all the other Acts are just fine?

Published February 24, 2012 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Canada's Firearms Act, Justice System Abuses, Oppose Bill C-30, Warrantless Searches

Bruce Cockburn wrote a famous song that contained the line “The trouble with normal is it only gets worse.” The same can be said for governments.  They always get worse, too.  The current so-called Conservative government is a perfect example of this, and Vic Toews unwittingly tried using this to his advantage.  He quickly discovered, much to his dismay, that Canadians … [Read more...]

Innocent until proven Guilty? No thanks, this is Canada!

Published May 29, 2011 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Abuse of Police Authority, Charter of Rights and Freedoms Breaches, Guns, Police Misconduct

...or "Give us your DNA or else!" That's basically the statement from Ontario Provincial Police Constable Peter Leon the other day.  If you don't give police a DNA sample, then you will be presumed guilty of murder and treated as a murderer. Evidence?  We don't need evidence?  You refused a demand from the Almighty State!  Clearly you missed your "re-education" sessions … [Read more...]

The Hunt for Sonia Varaschin’s Murderer casts a wide net

Published May 27, 2011 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Charter of Rights and Freedoms Breaches, Privacy Rights, Rights

Sonia Varaschin was a beautiful woman, cut down in the prime of her life by an unknown killer.  Unkown at least for now. Sonia was reported missing on September 1st, 2010, and her body was found five days later in a rural area about 12 kms southeast of Orangeville, Ontario.  She was attacked in her home, and then driven in her own car to a remote location where her body … [Read more...]
