Did Trudeau’s Virtue-Signalling Just Ban Your 12-Gauge Shotgun?

Published May 5, 2020 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Canada's Firearms Act, Guns, Political Antics, Property Rights, Self-Defense, Target Shooting Competitions

If a legal opinion on the Liberal government’s 20mm maximum bore diameter is interpreted the same way as the RCMP’s Canadian Firearms Lab has ruled in every other case involving removable chokes, the answer is unequivocally yes. Yet on May 1, 2020, Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair promised Canada’s hunting community he would not take away our guns. “I want to assure … [Read more...]

Many of Canada's most dedicated athletes are in the shooting sports. Here are a few of Canada's shooting sports ambassadors and their recent accomplishments, most of which go unnoticed outside of small, regional newspapers.   Christina Matchett Cadet Warrant Officer Christina Matchett "blew away the competition" at the South Island Zone Biathlon competition, held … [Read more...]

An awesome way to honor a WWII military sniper!

Don Laird, who sometimes contributes articles here on the blog, sent me a link to a really neat video this morning.  It’s the story of how the US Army Marksmanship Unit honoured 86-year-old Ted Gundy for his service. After being presented with the prestigious Black Hat, the old guy is visibly touched, his voice cracking with emotion.  Then he was taken to the range to do an … [Read more...]

Congratulations to Winnipeg Shooters!

A hearty round of “Atta girls” goes out to Manitoba shooters Connor Deneka and Heather McCrea for their medal-placing shooting skills at the Canadian Winter Games!  Well done ladies! In an age where shooting sports are vilified, and shooters themselves are viewed by many as nothing more than “killers in waiting”, it’s nice to see a couple of young ladies showing them what … [Read more...]

Full Auto Machinegun Shoots are fun

Published January 26, 2011 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Target Shooting Competitions

Full-auto machinegun shoots are a lot of fun, or so I'm told.  I haven't had the pleasure myself yet, although Oleg Volk keeps trying to drag me down south to come and play at one. This video is from an Oklahoma event... it just brings a smile to your face, doesn't it? As the young lady says, God Bless America! … [Read more...]

Positive News About the RCMP (for a change)

Grey Mountain shooting range in Whitehorse, Yukon, was the site for the longest running international shooting competition, known simply as "The Shoot".  It's an annual shooting competition between the RCMP and Alaska State Police has been running for 50 years. Pretty impressive by any standards. According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety press release, The Shoot … [Read more...]

Murder and Theft… on a Gun Range

Published August 3, 2010 by Christopher di Armani Filed Under: Target Shooting Competitions, Violent Criminals

An article out of Pennsylvania caught my attention and gave me pause.  The title... "Slaying probe focuses on gun range users"  led me to an article that, to be blunt, shocked me. Todd Getgen, father of 6-year-old Ethan, husband to Stella, was shot multiple times and killed at a shooting range. Police have no suspects. … [Read more...]
