On December 27th, 2012 I wrote the article “Hypocritical Anti-Gunners: Be Very Careful What You Wish For” in which I discussed the antics of the anti-gun zealots inhabiting the offices of The Journal News, a newspaper based in Rockland County, New York. In that article I wrote the following:
Anti-gun zealots get a lot more than they bargained for after publishing the names and home addresses of New York handgun permit holders.
On December 24, 2012, The Journal News got up on it’s high horse and published an article titled “The gun owner next door: What you don’t know about the weapons in in your neighborhood“, which included links to two interactive maps. These online maps contained the names and addresses of thousands handgun permit holders in New York’s Westchester and Rockland counties.
The high and mighty hypocrites at The Journal News didn’t think things all the way through though, did they? Within 24 hours the names, addresses, phone numbers and facebook pages of almost the entire newspaper staff were posted online, sending Janet Hasson, president and publisher of The Journal News Media Group, into a tizzy along with the rest of her freshly “outed” staff.
This is the same Janet Hasson who self-righteously claimed she had the right to publish the names and addresses of handgun permit holders because that information was, by law, public.
By posting the names and addresses of every permit holder in 2 counties online, Hasson put the lives of law enforcement officers and women hiding from abusive ex-spouses at risk.
Did she think about that, even for a second? I doubt it.
Thoroughly oblivious to the obvious security concerns of the people whose names, home addresses and phone numbers she so callously posted online, is it any wonder she had an epiphany once it was HER home address and phone number posted online for the world to see?
No, I suppose it’s not. Funny how once the shoe was on the other foot Hasson and the rest of her moronic company suddenly didn’t think it was quite so funny.
So when I read the news today that these same anti-gun lunatics had hired armed bodyguards to keep the staff of The Journal News “safe”, I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean really… the irony of these people running for the nearest gun after making such a public stand against civilian gun ownership was just too rich!
Anthony Mele, commenting on the sudden turnabout by these hypocrites, wrote:
The Journal News as exercised the rights they clearly want to deny everyone else. Their hiring protection for themselves, validated the pure rationale of every single one of those pistol permit holders they demonized by their propaganda piece. Pure Abbott and Costello comedy.
RGA Investigations, run by Richard Ayoob, is the man hired to protect these newspaper nitwits from their own stupidity.
If Richard is any relation to Massad Ayoob, then at least one good thing has come out of this debacle… the family renowned for their skill at arms and impeccable self-defense training is raking in cash these newspaper nitwits would have otherwise used to try and disarm decent and law-abiding Americans.
Again, the irony is almost more than I can bear!

On a related note, Putnam County officials will NOT release personal information on pistol permit holders to The Journal News. Common sense finally rears its head… and about bloody time, too.

The hypocrisy is maddening.
Thanks for reporting on these things.
