Some ninny bureaucrat in Britain has decreed that having Army cadets carrying rifles and demonstrating their drill skills in this year’s Remembrance Day parade would “upset” onlookers.

These delicate onlookers have managed to survive the horror of watching young cadets perform their drills for decades.  Why they suddenly can’t handle the sight of a rifle in the hands of an Army cadet boggles my mind, and thankfully I’m not alone.

The Daily Mail Online article leads off with this;

Army cadets have been left ‘bitterly disappointed’ after being banned from carrying rifles on a Remembrance Day parade – amid fears the weapons might ‘upset’ onlookers.

Unfortunately the article doesn’t specify which moron bureaucrat came up with this decision.  The quotes about the bad things that will happen if anyone sees a rifle aren’t attributed to an individual or ministry.

They were warned the rifle display during the march in Plymouth, Devon, could be deemed as ‘glamorising’ weapons.

Cadets were left ‘bitterly disappointed’ by the late change, which organisers today branded ‘political correctness gone mad’.

Basil Downing-Waite, chairman of the Federation of Plymouth and District Ex Services Associations, which organised the event, said: ‘It’s political correctness gone mad. I feel bitterly disappointed because it gives the young people a sense of responsibility.

‘They are delighted to do these displays.’

The Remembrance Day march will go ahead, but without the rifles.

It makes me wonder… what exactly are these British politically correct morons trying to honor?
