Back when Jack Layton was a Toronto city councilor, content to spend GTA cash like it was going out of style, he apparently had an “outside hobby”… or as Jack liked to call it, getting massages.
Jack likes Asian women… that’s no secret. He’s married to Olivia Chow, after all. Unfortunately for both Olivia and for Jack, it appears he likes to step out with young Asian prostitutes, or at least it looks like he used to.
SUN Media has copies of a retired police officer’s notes that show Jack was found naked in a room at a known prostitution house with a known 22-year-old Asian prostitute.
While Layton and Chow claim this was a reputable business, the facts say otherwise. It wasn’t your average licensed massage therapist’s office… it was a dingy room up a back stairwell with a thug at the front desk and a red/green light system for signaling when police were on site.
Chow wrote in a statement:
“Sixteen years ago, my husband went for a massage at a massage clinic that is registered with the City of Toronto. He exercises regularly; he was and remains in great shape; and he needed a massage.”
What Chow conveniently ignores and Layton doesn’t want the public to realize is that every “massage clinic” in Toronto is registered, both the real ones and the kind that Layton was caught in 16 years ago.
They can’t operate legally otherwise, and despite Chow’s claims, the place her husband had his “appointment” at isn’t a the place you’d take your wife for a massage, according to the notes of the retired Toronto police officer.
Olivia is standing by her man, although it can’t be easy for her to have her husband’s [alleged] infidelities with common prostitutes tossed in her face all these years later.
The NDP is, for obvious reasons, in full damage control mode now that Layton’s poor judgment has finally come to light.
Layton himself, in a statement outside a Courtenay BC election rally called the revelation nothing more than a “smear campaign.”
Funny how that’s what politicians always call it when the truth comes out, isn’t it?
Layton is welcome to deny the event ever happened, but that’s just not gonna fly. The evidence that it did happen is too strong, and his wife has already publicly admitted as much.
Claims that it was just a regular massage appointment doesn’t fly either. How many REPUTABLE massage businesses operate in the crappy part of ChinaTown at 9:30 at night? Hmmm… not very many.
Seems Jack has a lot of explaining to do… not just to his wife, but to the entire nation.
From the Toronto Sun article:
At first the policemen didn’t realize they were interviewing one of the best-known Toronto politicians who was married to Chow, also a Metro councillor and now the incumbent NDP MP for Trinity-Spadina.
The officer’s notebook indicates he asked the suspected john: “Did you receive any sexual services?”
He replied: “No sir, I was just getting a shiatsu.”
The cop: “Why did you have all your clothes off?”
The suspected john: No answer.
The cop: “Are you aware that there were sex acts being done here?”
The suspected john: “No sir.”
The woman, who was from mainland China, denied masturbating the suspected john but when the question was repeated became nervous and replied, “I don’t know I only come to work today,” the cop’s notes show.
His notes also claim he saw the “female dump wet Kleenex into garbage.”
In the interview with the Sun, the officer said: “I asked him for his wallet and I looked at his name and I looked at the last name and it looked familiar.
He’s registered as ‘John’ and I thought he’s a ‘john.'”
Layton’s Christian name is John.
“I explained to him this was a bawdy house and then I asked him the silliest question, ‘Are you any relation to the councillor, Jack Layton?’ and … he had that defeated look on his face and he said, ‘We are one in the same,'” the ex-cop said.
Is the timing of this information coming to light “convenient”.
Oh, I’m sure it probably is.
But would Jack be complaining so loudly about “smear campaigns” if it had been Michael Ignatieff or Stephen Harper that had been caught naked in a known prostitute’s bed 16 years ago?
Not even for a second. He’d have been the first guy to jump in front of the nearest television camera crowing about how we needed a higher moral standard from our leaders.
Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, doesn’t it Jack?
UPDATE: One enterprising YouTuber has taken some photos and added them to a video clip from SUN TV’s newscast of the story…. it shows better than any description I can give about the reputable nature of Jack’s “massage appointment“!

All people and other animals are born with a built-in biological sexual craving so they may serve in an enjoyable role as procreators on this planet.
It’s a fact of life.
Why then are we horrified when we learn that someone has engaged in sex with another person? It happens every minute of every day.
Would it be better to learn that instead of two people engaging in the sex act, only one person was engaged in the act? Or would we be less horrified to learn that a human being was engaged in sex with a species of a different kind?
If I have to endure the details about Jack Layton’s sexual preferences 15 years after the act(s), at least it is good to know the politician is a healthy male who had the good sense to hire a female prostitute rather than one of his own gender.
But, in my opinion, the media could have done the electorate a better deed by spending its frenzy examining and exposing Jack Layton’s Marxist philosophies in the last days before the federal election on May 2.
Now there is something for Canadians to be horrified about.

Nice of Jane to come to Jack’s defense with her homophobic opinions. I don’t think hetorosexual relationships with a prostitute by a married man shows Jack’s “good sense” just because it wasn’t a prostitute of his own gender.
Isn’t the real issue at hand the fact that a married man is engaging in these illegal acts, and that our leaders should be setting an example for our country?
It’s disgusting and its morally reprehensible.

Oh well; the guy is gone now. He had his time of fame and left us. Now we non NDP voters and his party have to put up with the MP’s who he left us with. You’re gone Jack but like Pierre Elliot, you have left us with your legacy and like Pierre’s, it won’t be a pretty one.
