Yesterday was the tale of two COVID enforcement actions by BC Premier John Horgan and his High Priestess of COVID, Dr. Bonnie Henry.
Blackcomb-Whistler Mountain was flooded with skiers who did not practice social distancing.
Blackcomb-Whistler did not receive a fine for violating the High Priestess’ social distancing rules.
Yesterday in the Fraser Valley, at the same time as thousands of skiers stood waiting for a spot on the ski lifts, at least one church dared opened its doors for its regular Sunday public worship service.
The church and all its worshippers obeyed every COVID-19 social distancing requirement, including contact tracing and mask wearing, yet their pastor received a $2,300 ticket from a cranky RCMP constable.
Premier John Horgan still hasn’t responded to my questions about COVID enforcement and the many Charter violations he endorses. (and yes, I sent my questions directly to him.)
I doubt the coward ever will, either, because there is no way he can possibly rationalize ordering churches to close while leaving ski hills open and packed to the rafters.
As I’ve noted previously, the rationale for Bonnie Henry, BC’s High Priestess of COVID, banning all religious worship services was based on a single Sikh temple where “possible COVID-19 exposures” might have happened.
When Big White Ski Resort had a confirmed outbreak of COVID-19 cases:
- There was no order to shut the facility down.
- There was no order to shut down all ski resorts in the province.
The Interior Health Authority issued this pathetic statement:
“We are confident with the safety plan in place by Big White Ski Resort. Outdoor activities at Big White are considered safe for anyone following public health direction.”
Right.
This gross inconsistency is why people like me are fed up with being told we can’t go to church, visit a friend or arrange a play-date for our kids, but ski hills flooded with people aren’t an issue.
Premier John Horgan’s and Dr. Bonnie Henry’s hypocrisy are simply too much.

I heard from my friend who lives there (she did not go this AM) Blackcomb gondola went under the bridge again and Whistler side was backed up to Olympic Rings. Traffic into whistler village was gridlocked

Yup. Friend who lives in Whistler said some random parked in her driveway because all day lots are full. I’m sorry, but if it is open, they will go ????? What did we think?

When did skiing become essential?

No matter what the camera angle or how you look at it, that is NOT social distancing.@WhistlerBlckcmb needs to do better. ENFORCE SOCIAL DISTANCING!

In Ontario, all the ski hills are mandated closed. I don’t believe that churches should be totally closed. If churches followed the social distancing and contact tracing rules, there is no rational reason for them to be closed and Walmart be open. For some people, they are in fact an essential service (pardon the pun).

Hi Christopher, Full disclosure, I’m a life long atheist, however, I respect others who have religious beliefs and follow them. I’m not anti religious, I just cannot accept those beliefs for myself.
My thinking on these Covid stupidities, is as follows. If you are rioting…sorry, protesting, (although not anti mask or anti Covid protests) if you are shopping at Costco, or if you are at a ski resort, you are focused on your shopping or ski plans or your protest, and not socializing.
However, you are socializing, if you have friends over, or attend church, and you might be discussing current affairs or the latest idiocy issued from politicians. I don’t think they want us comparing thoughts and expressing negative ideas about their Covid directives, and it could cause a group think they don’t approve of. That group think could make us even more vocal and disruptive about the unconstitutional dictatorial way they are enforcing these edicts.
They want to keep us separated and as fearful and as compliant as possible to continue to control us. If enough people refuse to become sheeple, they lose control of the game they are playing with all of us.
I don’t know if local and provincial authorities are complicit with the feds, or if they are just being useful idiots for them. The bigger question is WHY!
This is all a top down plan and I also think the May 1st gun ban is part of it, as is Trudeau’s reference to the great reset, the Green revolt, the anti oil, digital currency, Tech companies throttling dissent, and so on. I see it as all being connected, and I see dark days ahead for all of us regular folk. Maybe it’s just a conspiracy theory, and I’m wearing a tin foil hat, but the other day someone wrote, “I need to find some new conspiracy theories, as the ones I had, have all come true”.
I sincerely hope I am wrong, but I’m not seeing a lot of truths out there, and the way the authorities are behaving, is something we have never seen before, in what once was a free and open society.
Christine Generoux says
Sir we all hope you’re wrong too—but sadly you’re more correct than ever….conspiracy theories? NO conspiracy facts. The constitutional rights that our forefathers died for, have been “suspended” because of the flu, but only suspended for some and not for the elites. It’s time to put these elites in heir place and remind them who’s really in charge here.

I can’t think of a better place for a “sermon on the mount” than on the groomed slopes of Blackcomb or Whistler. Onward Christian Soldiers!
