I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again.

If you want to kill yourself, just do it already, and leave the rest of us out of it!

It really annoys the heck out of me when people are distraught over their lives, and instead of dealing with that, decide the best course of action is to start shooting police officers.  It’s stupid, and it’s dumping the problem onto people who don’t deserve that short of crap.

This latest case of moron with a gun comes out of

the Brooklyn Park suburb of Portland, Oregon.  Police were called to a residence after a 9-1-1 call told them a man was threatening to kill himself with pills. They wanted to check on him and make sure he was okay.

For their troubles, two Oregon cops were shot, and three others came under fire.

East Precinct Officer Parik Singh was shot in the abdomen with a hunting rifle, and his status was upgraded to serious condition from critical, after undergoing life-saving surgery in a Portland hospital.  He is, thankfully, now expected to make a full recovery.

Sgt. Reed Hunt was wounded in the hand as well, but was treated at the scene and is now recovering at home.

Sing is said to be very grateful for the officers who pulled him to safety after being shot.

“He’s grateful to his fellow officers,” said Officer Daryl Turner, president of the Portland Police Association. “He’s just resting now and worried about everyone else around him.”

It’s the usual situation, sadly, where a man is faced with the breakdown of his relationship.  Ralph Turner was being kicked out of the duplex he shared with his girlfriend because she was scared of him.  Well, now we know why, don’t we?

Turner had undergone heart surgery in December, and also suffers from liver disease.  He’d just returned to the duplex after recovering from his surgery in a nursing home.

Quoting from an article on Oregon Live:

Turner, born in Michigan, came to Oregon at age 15. He’s the second oldest of 10 siblings in a devout Catholic family. He worked for years as a machinist at Nabisco Co., but a heroin drug habit cost him his job. He also suffered from alcohol abuse. He had been married four times, and lived with his mother for at least 20 years until her death a year-and-a-half ago, his brother said.

“He was actually a functioning heroin addict” with no criminal record, his brother said.

Sadly, Turner, like most people who’ve made the incredibly stupid choice of shooting at police, blames everyone but himself.  Court documents show that Turner called his sister and blamed her for calling the police, as if it’s her fault he started shooting cops.

It’s nobody’s fault but his own, unfortunately, and now, after having survived a triple-bypass heart surgery, he’ll most likely spend his reprieve from a heart attack in jail until he dies.

That’s a sad and pathetic waste of human life.  What more can I say?

So, if you’re out there and you want to end your life, I’ve got a couple of pieces of advice, in the order I’d prefer you take them.

1. 1. Call your local pastor and talk with him about what’s going on.
2. 2. Call your local suicide hotline and talk to someone there
3. 3. Call the police and tell them that you are feeling suicidal, whether you have firearms or not
4. 4. Don’t kill anyone else.  If you’re really feeling that bad, leave the rest of us out of it and kill yourself.  We don’t need any more cops getting shot because you’re too chicken to do the deed yourself and want the cops to shoot you instead.
