Andrew Scheer was the keynote speaker at the CSSA’s annual Stick To Your Guns fundraising dinner held in Saskatoon on April 22, 2017. While he was there to talk politics, specifically his candidacy for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, his talk focused far more on himself and his admiration for the firearms community’s culture of safety.
“…the one thing that has always been impressed upon me was the attention to detail and the culture of safety around firearms ownership. And I think that’s a side of the story we, as politicians, and you, as firearm owners, have to do more of, to tell that side of the story.”
Before he reached this point in his talk, however, he told a hilarious story of his first deer hunt. He tried backing out but as you’ll see when you watch his speech below, he had no choice but to take the shot and down his first deer. I’ll leave the details to Andrew as he tells it far better than I could.
Enjoy!
