Bank of America dictates which products you can purchase with your own money

Bank-of-America---We-Hate-Guns

Can a bank dictate which legal products you can and cannot purchase?  As strange as it sounds, the answer is YES.

The Bank of America has long held an opinion about guns in the hands of civilians, but it wasn’t until after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that they proudly proclaimed that position.  In the wake of Sandy Hook the Bank of America is no longer hiding their ant-gun bias.

No-Handguns-AllowedPrior to Sandy Hook the Bank of America denied refusing business from or closing the accounts of pro-gun businesses, or cancelling transactions to those businesses by consumers.  No more.  Now the banking giant now has absolutely no qualms about dictating to cardholders which legal products they will or will not allow you to purchase.

Bank of America credit card holders are horrified that they’re being told they cannot purchase firearms with their credit card.  While it’s the bank’s card, it’s not the bank’s money.  That doesn’t matter to Bank of America whose policy now, as explained by a customer service representative, is to simply cancel or refuse transactions to firearms businesses.

If that makes you shake your head, you’re not alone.

Shockingly, the banking giant also told McMillan Group International their business was no longer welcome.

During an “account analysis” meeting with a BoA Senior Vice President, Ray Fox, McMillan began to become suspicious that the meeting was more than it appeared.

Kelly-McMillan“[Fox] spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories,” McMillan wrote. “At this point I interrupted him and asked ‘Can I possible save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer want my business.’”

Fox confirmed to McMillan that he was correct and the decision was politically motivated. The enraged firearms executive took to social media to let the world know about what happened, and the story began to spread.

The Bank of America is free to institute any policy it likes on guns and gun businesses.

We mere citizens are also free to make a choice: remove all personal and corporate business from Bank of America.

It’s called “voting with our dollars” and I encourage every single gun owner who currently has an account with Bank of America to find another banking and credit card institution.

The response to this sort of corporate stupidity is, of course, really quite simple.

If my guns aren’t good enough for Bank of America, clearly neither is my money.  That’s fine by me.  There are lots of other banks out there who will welcome gun owners and their money.
