It’s no wonder the world’s pedophiles view Canada as a safe haven. Paul Roger Villecourt, a member of the Calgary Police Service, retired from the CPS two weeks before being charged with accessing and possessing child pornography.
Moments before facing a jury trial, Villecourt pled guilty and as sentenced to a year in jail. He’ll be on probation for three years after that, and will also be required to register himself as a sex offender for ten years.
Villecourt had also faced a third more serious charge of distributing child pornography, but that charge was dropped when he pled guilty to possession.
That’s the Canadian Way… drop the serious charges and let the perp plead guilty to the minimum.
Why don’t we just put out a big welcome mat for child porn distributors? Sheesh.
