Two Gentry Police officers are credited with saving the life of a man who managed to unintentionally shoot himself in the leg. The unidentified man carried a loaded firearm in his pocket (never a good idea) and due to his negligence, shot himself and severed an artery in his leg.
Gentry Police Officers Matthew Easter and Tyler Kell responded to the 911 call and discovered the man unconscious, bleeding profusely from the wound in his leg and struggling to breathe.
The responding officers applied a tourniquet above the wound to slow down the bleeding until paramedics arrived and transported him to hospital where he underwent surgery to repair the severed artery and other damage from the gunshot wound.
Were it not for the life-saving actions of Officer Matthew Easter and Officer Tyler Kell, the man would probably be dead. Instead, the man is expected to make a full recovery.
According to Gentry Police Chief Clay Stewart, the man is ‘very appreciative’ of the officers’ actions that saved his life.
Chief Stewart issued a Letter of Commendation to both officers for their quick thinking and life-saving actions.
I suspect the man is glad the absurd ‘defund the police’ movement didn’t take root in Gentry as well.
