Two Canadians who illegally possessed 67 firearms were arrested by Minnesota State Patrol on January 10, 2021, after being pulled over for speeding.
Dayne Adrian Sitladeen, 29, and Muzamil Aden Addow, 29, now face charges of being an unlawful alien in possession of firearms and will likely face a host of additional charges.
According to State Police, the Chevrolet Silverado they drove was clocked at 95 to 99 miles per hour – well over the speed limit – just outside of Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
The truck had Texas licence plates, yet Muzamil Addow produced a fake Ontario drivers licence and Dayne Sitladeen used a fake Florida identification card.
It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to realize something was not quite right.
The trooper says he smelled marijuana and asked the driver for his consent to search the vehicle. Oddly, Addow said yes, so long as the trooper did not look inside any of the bags.
If I’m that state trooper, the very first thing I’m doing after obtaining consent is searching those bags.
It turns out Dayne Adrian Sitladeen is wanted in Canada for first-degree murder, drug trafficking and proceeds of crime.
Muzamil Aden Addow is wanted in Canada for firearms offences and kidnapping.
Both men will enjoy, if they’re convicted, a lengthy stay at an American prison before being returned to Canada to face trial for their crimes here.
Note to OTHER potential gun smugglers:
When driving down an American highway on your way back to Canada with a truck full of illegal guns, you probably don’t want to get high and break the speed limit.
