On November 6, 2020, gang thugs in one vehicle fired over 30 bullets from their illegally-possessed guns into another vehicle on Jane Street near Strong Court.
While some of those bullets hit their intended targets – the occupants of the second vehicle – at least one found its way into Dante Andreatta Marroquin, an innocent 12-year-old boy walking down the street with his mother.
The boy died from his injuries on November 11th while Remembrance Day ceremonies took place across the country.
We already have plenty of dead Canadians to remember on that sacred day.
Now, due to Public Safety Minister Bill Blair’s gross negligence and his refusal to reform our broken Firearms Prohibition Order system we must add one more name to the list.
The two alleged murderers, 24-year-old Rashawn Chambers and 25-year-old Jahwayne Smart, both have long criminal records and both were under a court-mandated Firearms Prohibition Order at the time of the shootings.
Instead of offering concrete steps to remove illegal guns from the hands of drug dealers and gangs, Bill Blair offered this pathetic statement on Twitter.
“This is heartbreaking news. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the 12-year-old boy, whose life was tragically taken in a senseless act of violence.”
Eugene Maciejewski’s response to Minster Blair said it perfectly.
“This is Your fault. Blame Yourself for that. You should start to chase criminals and put them in jails but instead You took a easier way that goes nowhere and fighting with law abiding citizens. Criminals are getting guns illegally and doing whatever they want. Shame on You.”
This government’s insistence upon banning and confiscating firearms from legal owners while allowing gang thugs like Rashawn Chambers and Jahwayne Smart to roam our streets armed with illegal firearms should shock even the most gun-hating activist.
Street-hardened criminals with illegal guns in their hands are the danger to public safety, Minister Blair, not target shooters and hunters who own firearms whose looks you find so offensive.
What Canadians find offensive is your refusal to stop violent criminals while you play Virtue-Signalling Warrior with your “evergreen” list of banned guns.
You insist on playing with lists of guns you hate while the rest of us mourn the murder of 12-year-old Dante Andreatta Marroquin.
You could have stopped this senseless murder.
You refused.
You have the power to stop the murder of the next innocent child gunned down by drug dealers and gang members.
What sickens me is that you won’t.
You’ll continue to ignore the criminals with firearm prohibition orders who use illegal guns to kill people in our streets.
You’ll continue to play Silly Bugger with your “evergreen” list of banned guns – guns no drug dealer or gang will ever use – all so you can pander to voters by claiming you’re doing something when, in reality, you refuse to lift a finger to stop the violence.
You, Minister Blair, are a virtue-signalling disgrace.
You, the former chief of the Toronto Police Service, know full well confiscating guns from licensed firearm owners like me will never, ever stop gang criminals from killing more innocent children in downtown Toronto.
This is where the mantra “If it saves just one life it’s worth it” comes back to bite you.
Your complete and utter failure cost this 12-year-old boy his life.
Reforming Canada’s broken Firearm Prohibition Order system will save hundreds of lives every year.
Why is this not important to you?
Your blatant refusal to reform Canada’s broken Firearm Prohibition Order system means this poor family must mourn their lost son for the rest of their lives.
If you had any decency, any honour at all, you would stop your politically-correct nonsense and go after the drug dealers and gangs tearing up the lives of people every day across this great country.
Canadians don’t want to mourn another innocent victim of the gang violence you refuse to stop, Minister Blair.
When will you focus your energies where they belong – on stopping the flow of illegal guns from the United States and removing illegal guns from the hands of violent young men like Rashawn Chambers and Jahwayne Smart?
When will you pull your head out of Justin Trudeau’s butt and do your job?
Designed to Fail is a 45-page Special Report which explains, in detail, everything that’s wrong with Canada’s Firearm Prohibition Order system, then outlines a clear plan to fix it.
The only question is… Will the federal government take the action required to keep Canadians safe?
Or will they continue to pay lip service to Public Safety while doing nothing to stop violent, repeat offenders from illegally obtaining guns?
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair;
If Britain’s police can pro-actively check on and search violent offenders and registered sex offenders, why can’t Canada’s police pro-actively check on and search the most dangerous people in our society – violent repeat offenders with Firearm Prohibition Orders registered against them?
Firearm researcher Dennis Young learned, through one of his myriad Freedom of Information requests, from 2014 to 2018 police arrested 5,550 criminals who were already prohibited from possessing firearms – an average of 1,110 per year.
When will you pass legislation to track and search these dangerous repeat offenders?
I’ve already done the hard work of creating the plan, Minister Blair.
I implore you to find the political will to draft and pass legislation based on this plan to take meaningful and measurable action to increase public safety – something the Liberal government’s virtue-signalling gun ban by Order in Council will not and cannot accomplish because SOR/2020-96 doesn’t apply to criminals.

“My thoughts…” Not my prayers, not my prayers, not my intention to prevent another such or any else to show some awareness? The question must be how anyone who has shown himself to be utterly brain dead can lay any claim to “thoughts.” This man of blood is a disgrace to the Canadian body politic.

Christopher, thank you for all you do. Without your attention and site too many of us would not come across such stories and the meaningless drivel presented by those with the power to act.

Thank you for your support, Dale. I’m grateful for you and all the other fine people who take the time to read my commentaries.

well said , I trust that the trolls watching you Chris , trolls employed by Trudeau/McLellan circle, will accurately report back to them what and how you have mirrored our thoughts, our beliefs and realize that lives of innocents’ are being needlessly lost. Blood on their hands, yes.
Logic and consequential accurate data cannot be argued against.
It was Einstein that coined a quote I adhere to …” doing the same [ wrong] thing over and over again and expecting a different result is a definition of insanity.”

Bill Blair, sigh. When he was a Police Chief in Ontario I had followed his public statements and lack luster performance and his ability to ignore the frontlines and the public interests.
When he became a MP for the liberals I began to hold my breathe for the inevitable plum posting to a cabinet.
So here we are, witness to all we see this moment.
Blood on his hands, on Trudeau’s and the Deputy Prime Minister C. Freeland, whose previous cabinet portfolio allowed the continuing sale of arms to Human Rights Abusing countries such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia. I protested that in writing to her as the hypocrisy of attacking lawful men and women firearms owners and outdoors people is so apparent when these immoral arms sales are being made with questionable countries. Canada happens to be the number 25th largest exporter of military goods in the world [ 2018]
To no avail, sure, I got a feel good answer from her, but the mindset that continues the OIC and C-71 and malignant attacks on us continues.. And canadians are dying. Guns, drugs, opioids, chinese influences into canada and two-michaels on Death Row incommunicado, Economic Inequalities upon our youth.Uiyger-minority abuses in China that involve retributions against chinese canadians that dare to protest that situation or Hong Kong situations, threats made in Canada.
But the Liberals are silently skipping this all.
The Liberals behaviour past and present reminds me of Einstein’s definition of insanity.

Hi, Christopher. I am a neighbour if yours, currently living in Lillooet. I am also a first cousin of Lee Willard Potter, of whom you wrote, and covered as well his murderer Willian Lepine.
Thank you for caring enough to write about Lee and Christopher Wright.
Their murders have always been a deep, sad loss to me.
At the same time the Liberals pretend to try to remove firearms from safe, law abiding Canadians and make hay from naive Canadian voters by removing firearms from innocent civilians who would never use them for crimes of violence.
I live near a shit rat who used a handgun in a shootout in a bar in Vancouver. He continues on his way unabated. I will phone you.
Christopher di Armani says
You’re welcome, Colin. One of the most rewarding parts about writing this series is hearing from the family members who’ve reached out to me.
I look forward to your call but if you don’t mind, can you hold off until next week? I’m slammed with deadlines this week and need to get them done. The week of December 7th is a lot clearer for me (so far). 🙂
