How did We Come to This? by Rob Sciuk
We are our own worst enemy
The Canadian Firearms Act of 1995 (C68) introduced a number of draconian, expensive, unconstitutional and ultimately useless measures aimed at responsible firearm owners which were not then, and never have been about public safety. Alan Rock’s bastard child was only ever about the eventual confiscation of all civilian firearms, and it totally excluded criminal activities by definition.
One of those draconian measures in particular went under the radar in the responsible firearms community (RFC), so focused were we upon the red herring of the registration measures. That single measure that I refer to, made Trudeau’s announcement on May 1st 2020 a certainty, and forever sealed the fate of ALL responsible firearm ownership in Canada, and we basically missed it;
C68 was enabling legislation in that it allowed the (then) Justice Minister the power to proscribe (ban) any device through regulation by Orders in Council should he view it (in his opinion) to be pertinent to the public safety.
Had the RFC recognized the danger ahead, we might have made stronger efforts to unite and create an effective political umbrella to have the entirety of C68 repealed, but our allies in the Conservative party were too focused upon gaining popular support in their bid to power, and failed to make good on their promises to repeal the act in its entirety.
Identity Politics
It appears that discrimination against any minority in Canada, save one, is viewed as being politically incorrect. Sadly, we in the RFC are the single minority for which it is entirely acceptable to marginalize, discriminate against, castigate, persecute and for whom no unconstitutional measure or regulatory hoop is deemed unacceptable.
Scrupulously law abiding, individuals who typically need no government coddling, and who willingly subject ourselves to intense government scrutiny, vetting, training, and uphold the pillars of safety, responsibility and respect are considered third class citizens. There is a reason for this – we are unlikely to support the Liberal Party of Canada after their historical treatment of us, and they damn well know it!
Identity politics requires that Canadian society be divided up into special interests and marginalized communities in order for the Liberals to divide and conquer in their quest for power. Nothing exemplifies this more than Justin’s daily Coronavirus “giveaway”, where he identifies a unique group, and singles them out for a “gift” of taxpayer money, which Justin happily forks over in his latest generous and heartfelt “gift” to the people. It is this same principal which has every marginalized group receiving generous federal handouts and special treatment in order to garner political support for a corrupt and ultimately treasonous governing party. Sadly, only the RFC have been chosen to receive the enmity of the government, because our numbers are too small to have an impact upon the outcome of the next election. Or so Justin thinks.
Global Forces and Canadian Politics
Justin Trudeau has no specific plan, nor is he intelligent enough to have thought this up on his own. Playing the role of Pinocchio to the Gepetto which are the United Nations, The Climate Change movement, Liberal International, Canada 2020 and the “progressive” (sic Stalinist) countries who have infiltrated and heavily influence the modern progressive left Trudeau is simply following the roadmap he has been provided.
Do you think that it was an accident that the “gun ban” announcement was made on May 1st, also recognized by Communists the world over as “international worker’s day”?
Traditional values, such as God and Country, national pride, patriotism, rule of law, morality, support for the military and pride in individual achievements are not only anathema to the progressives, such values are an impediment to their achieving a single world order and the end of nations.
Our energy independence, our national pride, the West and Canada’s standing on the world stage as a good actor have all been frittered away by a corrupt leadership. Legal civilian firearm ownership is problematic to progressives, who oddly do not see into their own future, where those who have the guns will all be wearing uniforms, and enforcing strict and absolute conformance upon the masses without any fear of recourse by the people.
In the face of a global pandemic, created by a corrupt Chinese Communist government, and made worse by our own government’s subservience and failure to call out the malfeasance and to stand up for our own country, our borders remain open to all comers, illegally crossing the borders and pouring through regular customs without regard to their health status. Even as this is occurring, the civil liberties and freedoms of Canadian citizens are being curtailed. A glimpse of things to come, perhaps?
The lessons of history have been lost, and the Canadian electorate are happy to relegate the RFC to a small collection of uneducated racists who “cling to their guns and bibles”, but they might be surprised to learn the truth of exactly who we are.
The Liberals, a Wedge Issue and the Next Election
The timing of the OIC banning our sporting and hunting rifles was no accident. In a minority government, Justin has killed our economy, destroyed the middle class, locked us into a quarantine, attempted an end-run around Parliament, and run up a budget deficit approaching $260 Billion dollars for 2020 alone.
This far exceeds the tax revenues, and Justin has to borrow for the daily giveaway. This has put Canada into the unenviable position of having to service a debt load which will soon approach the cost of our much vaunted health care system, and will put all of the social programs which have come to define our semi-socialist national identity into jeopardy. Justin is not done yet. He needs Canada’s resources to provide funds to the UN and his corrupt dictator buddies abroad, and to do that he will have to retain power in the next election.
In order to win the next election, Justin has relegated we in the RFC as the goat, and is pandering to the urban voters who are truly ignorant of our true values. He is threatening his urban progressives that if the Liberals are not re-elected, then the Conservatives will roll back all the “progress” that the Trudeau Liberals have made, including the gun ban. This is known as a “wedge issue”.
Is there Anything we CAN Do?
There are a couple of things which are working in our favour, just now. One is that the CPC are about to hold a leadership convention, and any member of the Conservative Party can participate in electing the leader.
It is important to note that the deadline to join the party and be eligible to participate in the leadership election is May 15th, and is rapidly approaching. I urge ALL firearm owners to become members of the CPC, in order to vote in the upcoming leadership process.
I strongly urge the RFC lobby organizations (CSSA, CCFR, NFA, LUFA) various affiliates, hunting organizations and others to start to put pressure on the CPC leadership candidates to commit to repealing not only the OIC, but to forever remove the firearm wedge from both the CPC and Liberal Party of Canada’s grasp once and for all. In order to garner support, the leader should commit to:
- Repeal of the OIC arbitrarily banning firearms
- Collapse the Prohibited category into RESTRICTED to protect property rights
- Repeal the Ministerial power to regulate by OIC, and return that power to Parliament
- Perform a cost benefits analysis on the CFA/C68, and state the TRUE purpose for which that legislation was originally designed, and to instead re-direct it into a program which is actually designed to serve the public safety rather than eliminate the rights of law abiding Canadians.
If a leadership candidate supports these initiatives, then they would benefit from the support of the entirety of the RFC in their leadership bid, and in the general election. We may only be 2.5 Million, but with family support and our influence of those who actually use their brains, this would translate into about 12 Million voters at the polls by some estimates.
This is not a panacea, as the Conservatives have used us badly in the past. Harper promised to repeal C68, and removed only the long gun registry. It will be important to hold the Conservative’s toes to the fire, but a good start will be to have both the leader, and the party back office types to understand that we are not “a bunch of rural rednecks”, but can actually make a difference in the next election. The link to join the CPC is below, the cost is $15.00. In order to be eligible to vote in the leadership race, you have to be a member by May 15th 2020:

The next election is not just about our gun rights, but also Canada’s future, and indeed our national identity.
Oddly, Justin believes that Canada has “no core identity”, and has stated so publicly. It is my belief that Justin himself has no core identity, Canada has always had one, and it is high time that Canadians from all walks of life, gun owner or not, take the time to demonstrate to the world that Canada’s democracy is very important to us.

“Masculine republics give way to feminine democracies, and feminine democracies give way to tyranny.” Aristotle. That’s how. The government has future plans so horrible it requires an unarmed populace…

Let’s hope O’Toole is going to get this done. Agreed Harper fell short of 86ing C68. This is why Western Canada needs to separate. You would never get lousey anti gun legislation OIC etc in just the West. You would never ever get a shitty pol like turdo in just the West.
Good column. We need to get this OIC 86ed before guys are forced to hide away their ARs and Mini 14s.

Albert Einstein: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
We just voted 6 months ago for a Conservative Party that was supposed to prevent Justin’s gun ownership purge. Trudeau was so scandal-ripe and beatable it wasn’t funny. Yet the CPC blew it and lost. I agree with most of the article except your conclusion. Why should we default to buy CPC memberships when they just squandered the chance they had Oct. 21/19. Sorry, we need a different solution that works for legal firearm owners. Public education of our sport and current laws would be a start.

I came up to a similar conclusion. It’s not only firearms that are wanted to be confiscated, it’s other things such as: privacy rights are being trumped on by big tech and they get away with it — so gov-ts approve this, law enforcement hostility/aggressiveness grows while accountability is less and less. New forms of taxation are created. This whole theatre with degenerate Greta girl is merely to accustom general public to new forms of taxation. If this is not tyranny, I don’t know what else is.
Think of any big parties as corporations, they have similar structure. And I think they do have similar goals to achieve, it’s the paths that are slightly different. Concentration of power is evil, so the solution would be to transfer power to provinces and territories, ideally separation. Quebec needs to create precedent first, others will follow.

Well I know who I am and what country I served to uphold the freedoms and rights of it’s citizens. To be safe from tyranny, injustice and inequality.
Safe in which nothing of real substance has come to fruition,
Injustice, enough said and
Equality, only the well off and privileged have the right to security and self defence.
These laws are a slap in the face to serving members as well as veterans.

Not just the shotguns and 460 Weatherby magnum either. There is a comma between the words US Rifle and M14. This not only includes the M1 Garand but a plethora of others. I once owned a Winchester 95 that said US Rifle .30 cal. This would have been the 30-03 before the Modification 1 that upgraded to 30-06. 30-40 Krag is another. I know US Rifle cal 30 M1 is the ammunition not the manufacturer but when I registered these they entered US Rifle as the make, not Springfield.

I believe that the RFC has been more than reasonable with the laws changing every time the government changes. But the time has come to stand up and be counted. We should not and will not let this government take our firearms because of the bleeding hearts who know nothing about our sport and way of life.
It seems that the Conservatives are our only hope to set things straight on the firearms issue. But, we have to be aware of sheep in wolves clothing. That said, we should all know of the Red Tories who want to lead our party. O’Toole and McKay are the red herring running for the leader ship of the conservative party. Derick Sloan is a true blue conservative and has declared his position on the repeal of the firearms act. But can he beat Justin? The only conservative I think will do the job is Jim Karahalios, who is off the ballet and disqualified from the race. He met all the requirements to be on the ballet but was removed. He now has to go to court and sue the party to be reinstated. If he is successful in court then the RFC should be taking a close look at him and his platform.
