Is Jordan Peterson More Terrifying Than Adolf Hitler?

Is Jordan Peterson more terrifying than Adolf Hitler? According to New Zealand book retailer Whitcoulls the answer is an unequivocal and resounding “YES!” The book seller pulled 12 Rules for Life from its shelves after the terrorist attacks on two Christchurch mosques.

When questioned, Whitcoulls Customer Service representative Erica said this.

“Unfortunately 12 Rules for Life is currently unavailable, which is a decision that Whitcoulls has made in light of some extremely disturbing material being circulated prior, during and after the Christchurch attacks. As a business which takes our responsibilities to our communities very seriously, we believe it would be wrong to support the author at this time.”

Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kempf, along with many titles specifically critical of Islam and Muslims, are still available. Of course.

Here is the Table of Contents for Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life, the subject matter Whitcoulls finds so offensive.

RULE 1 / Stand up straight with your shoulders back
RULE 2 / Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping
RULE 3 / Make friends with people who want the best for you
RULE 4 / Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today
RULE 5 / Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them
RULE 6 / Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world
RULE 7 / Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient)
RULE 8 / Tell the truth—or, at least, don’t lie
RULE 9 / Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t
RULE 10 / Be precise in your speech
RULE 11 / Do not bother children when they are skateboarding
RULE 12 / Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street

Contrast Whitcoulls’ refusal to sell Peterson’s common-sense “12 rules” with the following titles they wholeheartedly endorse.
